I recently returned from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, a ten day beachy holiday.
We stayed at the Blau Eco Natura Resort. These are pictures of some of the grounds.
The pool and water bar was nice, but I never swam in it once. I much more preferred the beach.
The water was warm, clean and salty. The air was cool and refreshing, to combat the 28 degree heat with a 85% humidity.
This little guy was digging his home near my cabana. Each time I tried to get close, he dove into the sand. So, I set up camp next to his home and waited for his next above ground visit. He did not disappoint, but once he saw me, he took off pretty fast.
Speaking of seafood, this is my partner’s seafood dish at the a la carte restaurant.
To cool off, we hung out at one of the bars. Great cappuccinos and even better cocktails.
This is the view from the bar.
Night time is magical at this resort. One night we experienced a full moon. This is a shot from the door of our resort room.
The frogs in the pond outside were so loud it was difficult to believe. They loved the midnight showers. This guy was right outside our door.
They had a show every night. The best was the Michael Jackson show. One night they had karaoke. I got up and sang!! I was super nervous.
I tipped our hotel maid really well, just because I thought she could use the extra money. She was so grateful she would leave us bottles of extra water, extra towels and often did elaborate decorations with out bedspread. This swan was particularly creepy to me (kind of reminded me of a snake). But the effort was appreciated.
I took almost all the photos of our trip. At one of the a la carte restaurants, I asked my partner to take a shot of me. This is the best of 4 attempts – ha ha! I make a better photographer than subject anyways!!
We had never been to the Dominican before. It was amazing. Probably one of our best vacations. Beautiful weather. The staff was amazing – happy, fun, positive people who loved to joke around.
The grounds were amazing, as was the beach. We thought the food was pretty great.
Now I am just trying to figure out how I can retire and live full-time at an all inclusive resort!
